We invite you to bring your class on a field trip to any of our museum sites and explore the artifacts, documents, art and historic architecture up close. School tours are aligned with the Louisiana Department of Education Content Standards and Grade Level Expectations.
School tours are free for students and chaperones. We require at least one adult chaperone for every 10 students.
All school and youth groups of more than 10 students must make a reservation. We recommend scheduling your tour at least two weeks in advance.

Be inspired by the collection! The Museum offers many special programs for teachers, including exclusive exhibition viewings, professional development courses as well as tailor-made courses to suit your specific needs. These events are free and open to all area teachers. Please check the calendar for courses and workshops.
School Partnerships and Projects
The Museum works with many schools to develop exciting and innovative learning opportunities.
Volunteers play an important role in assisting the education department fulfill its goals and objectives.
Docents are essential to the interpretive mission of the museum. Applicants attend an annual 12-week training session led by museum education staff before they lead tours for the public. If you are interested in becoming a museum docent, please contact the Education Office at 504-568-2126.
Interns support museum operations by assisting the education staff with projects related to audience and program development, K-12 programming and tour development. If you are interested in becoming a museum intern, please contact the Education Office at 504-568-2126.
Junior Ambassadors are high school students who assist the education department while gaining valuable experience and training in the Museum field. After successfully completed training, Junior Ambassadors serve as team leaders and tour guides to groups of students during the summer months.
