BACKGROUND: Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu and Mayor Leroy Sullivan will announce Donaldsonville as a new Main Street Community, Friday March 13th at 1:30pm.

The Louisiana Main Street Initiative promotes a comprehensive approach that rural and urban communities can use to revitalize traditional commercial area through historic preservation and grassroots economic development.

Since its beginning in 1984, Louisiana Main Street counts among its successes creating over 1,700 new businesses bringing in more than 7,400 jobs with well over $400 million in private and public reinvestment.
