LT. GOV. LANDRIEU AND BOND COMMSSION APPROVE

Facility will include LA Sports Hall of Fame and Regional History Museum

BATON ROUGE -Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu and the State Bond Commission approved funding for construction of the new Louisiana State Museum - Natchitoches. The museum will house the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the North Louisiana Regional History Museum. The facility will use cutting-edge technologies to showcase a wide array of exhibits, while driving economic development and tourism.

"This new facility in Natchitoches is another example of how we are transforming our state museum system into a world-class institution," said Lt. Gov. Landrieu. "The museum will bring to life the achievements of our state's greatest athletes and sports figures, as well as preserving the unique culture and history of North Louisiana."

Lt. Gov. Landrieu and the commission also approved a number of other projects, funding economic development and recovery efforts.

Approved funding includes:

-Educational and recreational facilities in Allen Parish ($2,035,000)

-Construction and development of Bogue Chitto State Park in Washington Parish ($19,990,000)

-Police and fire protection improvements in Avoyelles Parish

-School renovations and improvements in Livingston Parish ($30,000,000)

-Road improvements in LaSalle Parish

-Fire protection in Acadia Parish ($10,000,000)

-Tourism promotion and marketing efforts for St. Bernard Parish

-Library construction and improvement in St. Mary Parish ($2,500,000)

-Programs and facilities for seniors in St. Helena Parish
