LT. GOV. LANDRIEU AND BOND COMMSSION APPROVE HOUSING AND EDUCATION PROJECTS

Funding for School Renovations across Louisiana

BATON ROUGE - Today, the State Bond Commission approved funding for public works projects across the state, including school renovations and improvements in several parishes. Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu, as a member of the commission, also supported a number of economic development and recovery efforts.

"Rebuilding education in our state is the key to moving Louisiana forward," said Landrieu. "We must invest responsibly in our schools to give Louisiana's citizens the opportunities they deserve."

Approved project funding includes:

School renovations and improvements:

  • Bossier Parish ($5,200,000)
  • Lafayette Parish ($51,300,000)
  • LaSalle Parish ($9,750,000)
Redevelopment efforts to restore blighted properties in Orleans Parish ($4,000,000)

Purchase and renovation of two multifamily residential facilities in Calcasieu Parish ($18,000,000)

Construction and development of the Federal City complex in New Orleans ($150,000,000)
