Hodges Gardens State Park to Open Overnight Cabins -- 03/19/2008 PRESS RELEASE
Office of State Parks
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 19, 2008
CONTACT: Hodges Gardens State Park to Open Overnight Cabins
BATON ROUGE - Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu announced today that effective Thursday, March 20, Hodges Gardens State Park will open their cabins to overnight visitors. Reservations can be made by contacting the park, directly, at 800-354-3523, until April 7. At that time, reservations can be made by calling the Baton Rouge Reservation Center at 877-226-7652 or online at ReserveAmerica.com. "Today, Louisiana has one of the greatest state park systems in the country, contributing to our quality of life and Louisiana's rural economies," Lt. Governor Landrieu said. "Opening these cabins at Hodges Gardens will draw overnight visitors, and help increase the economic impact of the park for the region." Camping at Hodges Gardens is scheduled to open later this summer, and the existing group lodge will be replaced by a new facility within the next 2 years. Basic cookware, cooking utensils, dinnerware, silverware, towels and linens are provided in State Parks cabins. You need only to bring your own food and personal supplies. The Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism (CRT) and the Office of State Parks acquired Hodges Gardens in April 2007. Over 900 acres of wild and cultivated beauty, Hodges Gardens State Park is located on Hwy. 171, approximately 15 miles south of Many. More information on the site can be found on Louisiana State Park's website, www.lastateparks.com. ###
