NEW ORLEANS, LA - Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu and radio talk show host Tavis Smiley will bring together volunteers from across the country for State of the Black Union (SOBU) Builds, a day of service designed to assist Greater New Orleans residents in rebuilding efforts. The SOBU Builds will mobilize 1,000 volunteers on Friday, February 22 at five community service projects across New Orleans from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. SOBU Builds is the largest single African American volunteer service day since the post-Katrina rebuilding efforts began. The Office of the Lt. Governor is the title sponsor of SOBU Builds. WHO: Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu, Tavis Smiley and teams of volunteers Friday, Feb. 22 12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Other community partners and service projects include:
