STATEMENT FROM LT. GOVERNOR MITCH LANDRIEU REGARDING MARY WRIGHT, CHAIRMEN OF LA TOURISM PROMOTION DISTRICT
"Mary Wright was one of Louisiana's first and best professional tour planners. She hosted countless tourists from all over the U.S. and nations worldwide, showing them our state in a way that showcased our rich culture and heritage and the genuine fun that comes with it. She was a true Louisiana ambassador.
Mary devoted herself to Louisiana tourism for decades; both in private business and government service, and her contributions to tourism have been priceless and key to its growth and significance in Louisiana's overall economy.
She brought knowledge of the entire state to both her tourist clients and the boards on which she served, and all who knew her valued her friendliness, wit and sense of humor. As partners and friends within the tourism industry, we offer our sincere condolences to her family," said Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu, whose office oversees the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.
