The Atchafalaya Heritage Area has been designated by Congress as a National Heritage Area.
The teacher guide introduces students to the four food groups( fruits ,vegetables, grains, proteins). Post activities include sorting, phonetic sounds, and counting.
The museum visit will introduce students to the four food groups with props and music. The students will proceed into the galleries on a search for pictures of various foods found in Louisiana. After collecting the food pictures, students will be given a paper plate divided into sections. The divided sections of the food plate will be labeled with words or pictures of the four food groups. Students will sort the food pictures into the appropriate sections of the plate.
Targeted Grades: Pre-K, Kindergarden, & 1st Grade
