Public Notice Regarding Historic Review of the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church, 5500 Paris Avenue, New Orleans
Comments: Please tear it down. The church was once the part of this community but for years has only been there for the school. I grew up with Frank Loyd Wright house behind my house plus his stuido was two blocks away those are significant structures Cabrina Church is not. If the building functioned properly (no roof leaks good heating and cooling system) then it might be worth considering but it is a white elephant. If the Parishioners were so worried about the build why did they not take matters into their own hands and start the cleanup themselves. If it is so important to these folks come up with the money and fix it up. The Cathloic Church cannot afford to rebuild the school and church. Before the storm they were very few folks attending the church and the large activities were parent nights at the school. Never once did someone for the church come out into the neighborhood and talk inviting us to church. The Bapitist Church at least once a year had contact with the community. I live two blocks from the church and feel that it should be torn down
