affected:
5500 Paris Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122
Comments: We all loved our church. I was married and had both my children baptized there. My oldest received First Holy Communion there. Both children attended school there and our family attended mass there and my wife [and children] were lifelong parishoners. However, as for the structure itself, it was a maintenance nightmare. A congregation of 700 families could not afford to keep the building up and now we are being asked to designate it as a historical site so that more money (whose money would this really be?) can be poured into this structural disaster?
Our congregation voted by overwhelming majority to sell this site, church and all to Holy Cross with the intention that this would help our community with its recovery efforts. Let us get on with our lives, please.
