Comments: Histrory is important and we must all learn from it, sometimes embrace it but sometimes when history stands in the way of more pressing needs, history must give way. Holy Cross has historical significance but in the post Katrina world the survival of Holy Cross is not important because of its history but rather because of the vital and important contribution Holy Cross is making to the education of young people; and now, with this committment to rebuild in Orleans parish Holy Cross becomes a major contributor the development of an entire area of the city. How can one old empty builiding compare to all of that. This is a discussion that could only take place in a city where a select group of people are so mired in the past that they choose to ignore the needs of the present and the way to the future. Those who would argue that the church should remain and the school go are the very same people who have held this city back for so long while they lunched at the club. Tear the building down and let Holy Cross get on with the business of doing what it has been doing for over hundred years--educating children.
