Comments: History should never be preserved at the expense of our children's future. It's purpose is to teach us not to repeat the mistakes of the past. If Gentilly does not come back, if Holy Cross is unable to move, the church will slowly deteriorate proclaiming it's ruined message to no one. It is ironic that those who will not participate in the rebirth of New Orleans are the most critical concerning how it is done. As a teacher I understand the need for process, but above all I appreciate the vitality of common sense. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few...or the one. As I watched my home destroyed and all my possessions ruined I held my family tight and thanked God for them. After the storm I drew strength from the revelation that people are what matters, not buildings. A house is just a structure, wherever my family comes together is our home. New Orleans is not just a city, but a spirit. Holy Cross is not just a school, it is a family, my family. Please let my family have it's new home so we my share it with our new neighbors in the spirit of rebuilding that which was so cruelly taken from us - our future together.
