HOLT CEMETERY SEXTON'S COTTAGE
Comments: The Sexton's Cottage at Holt Cemetery is key feature of this historic cemetery and must not be demolished. Holt Cemetery is eligible to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is the burial site for several noted and historic New Orleans musicians. Furthermore, Holt Cemetery is located immediately adjacent to the Lafitte Greenway, a 3 mile long trail and open space amenity that is now under development by the City of New Orleans. Our organization, Friends of Lafitte Corridor (a 501c3 not-for profit) is actively engaged in building partnerships for the development of an interpretive trail that will engage trail users with the cultural history of the Lafitte Corridor. It is anticipated that Holt Cemetery will be a major interpretive node along this trail.
Thank you for your consideration.
