Sexton Cottages In N.O. Cemeteries...Holt, Lafayette No. 1 and No. 2, and Carrollton No. 1 Cemetery.
Comments: These cemeteries themselves are historical, and attract tourism in the city of New Orleans as much as any other attraction here. What does it say about us if we destroy something of such historical value? I was a student in the funeral service division of Delgado Community College, and our sorority/fraternity took time out to volunteer tending graves at this historical cemetery, and the sexton cottage is a part of that history. If they are listed nationally on the historical registry then why are you going to destroy these historical cottages. Why?
I think the process should be stopped by the National Historical society. If they can protect private historical homes from being destroyed then why not stop the destruction of these historical Sexton Cottages?
