St. Frances Cabrini
Comments: I'm a member of the St. Frances Cabrini. I voted to sell the property and for the demolition of the church. Because of the design of the church, the parish was having to spend millions of dollars in repairs over the past years. The roof and A/C always had problems. It was a money pit. We can as a parish build a new church in the area if enought catholic families return to the area. Time will show over the years if we will have enough catholic families to support another church in Gentilly. Before Katrina, the archidoesce was planning to close one of the churches in our neighborhood. St. James the major was on the chopping box. Now St. James the major, St. Leo, and St. Pius can support the families. Even though I will miss our church, it's time to let go for the greater good of our neighborhood and to help one of our schools return. That's more important than trying to salvage something that no one wants to repair.
